As always, warm up before you engage in any activity. And make sure to consult your physician if you have any health concerns before exercising. Equipment needed: Mat, Timer Title: Death By Plank Set your timer at 15 minutes. Your task is to hold yourself in the plank position as long as you can. Whenever you drop down out of the proper plank formation, you must stand up and complete 10 Burpees, then return back to the plank position. Continue this for 15 minutes.

I split up two workouts (a cardio-based one & a lifting weight-based one). Your task is to start on the cardio-based workout – set the timer for 10 minutes and get through AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! Once the timer hits 10 minutes, you go directly over to the lifting portion and again, do AS MUCH AS YOU CAN for 10 minutes. 20 minutes in, take a 2-minute REST. Fitness Is Not A Fad

Fashions will come and go, as will posers who use exercise as a way to get ‘skinny’ for summer. It’s an integral part of my life, just a few days away from the iron usually leaves me feeling sluggish, depressed and unfulfilled. For me it isn’t some phase I’m going through, it’s become a part of me. Challenging yourself, pushing yourself, constantly pursuing physical wellbeing and mental clarity. For some, they do not recognize the amazingness of training, of lifting more, of running faster. To them it’s just a way of burning calories. Oh it’s so much more. It’s empowering, it’s satisfying, it’s disappointing, it’s tiring and it’s so damn rewarding. This is something I will be doing for the rest of my life, I’ll be squatting in my sixties. A Good Workout…

You know you have had a good workout because you feel good, and over time you are getting stronger and fitter. If you notice a decrease in strength the next time you are at the gym, you probably overworked your muscles and haven’t given them the time (and/or nutrition) to recuperate properly. Beginners (and experts alike) all want to train harder than their bodies will allow, and sometimes need to have as much discipline walking away from the gym, than getting into it. Beginners have to be especially cognizant of the fact that your muscles can grow faster than your ligaments and connective tissues can handle, and that proper recovery is critical to staying injury free. You’re Only Hurting Yourself

After a 1.5 hour yoga session & refreshness – I noticed a few things. Often times from clients of mine or others that I know – I hear: that yoga is “not for them” due to the so-called slowness, it’s not a “workout”, they have ADD & can’t concentrate, or that they can’t stop laughing because the moves are too funny. Yet – 9 times out of 10, these same people are the ones suffering from knee issues, tight hips, sore lower backs, stiff shoulders, complain of feeling “bulky” or have overall pain after workouts. I sense a correlation. You may not burn 700 calories in yoga, but the overall benefit you’ll get from the stretching and flexibility will surpass any calorie that you burn since you’ll be preventing yourself from injuries & thus keeping your body intact to workout. One thing many people don’t realize is that many factors can influence a person’s weight which do not reflect that person’s body fat. For example, two cups of water weigh one pound. If you tend to retain water or bloat, the scale can easily rise a few pounds without a  change in what you have eaten. However, for dieters the effects of water  weight can be severe.
